The functional 7SL RNA is a key component of the signal recognition particle, which is responsible for targeting proteins to the endoplasmic reticulum and regulating translation[1][3]. In contrast, RN7SL8P is a truncated and likely inactive copy, lacking biological function and significance as a therapeutic target. Human DNA contains hundreds of 7SL RNA pseudogenes of diverse structures, which are not expressed and serve only as genomic relics[4]. Disambiguation context: - Sometimes, “7SL RNA pseudogenes” are mistaken for the active 7SL RNA gene (RN7SL1), which has central roles in protein synthesis, secretion, and has been implicated in cancer biology and viral replication[1][3].
