Overview

RN7SL800P is a pseudogene derived from the 7SL RNA, which is the RNA component of the signal recognition particle (SRP), but RN7SL800P itself is not a protein-coding gene nor a typical therapeutic target[4][5][6]. It is a human genomic pseudogene representing a noncoding RNA sequence similar to 7SL RNA, the RNA component of the signal recognition particle (SRP)[4][5][6]. While functional 7SL RNA is essential for cotranslational protein targeting to the endoplasmic reticulum[1][3], RN7SL800P itself is a pseudogene—a truncated, non-functional copy likely generated by retrotransposition, characterized by its incapacity to encode RNA functional in the SRP complex[5][6]. Most 7SL RNA pseudogenes do not produce transcripts or proteins and are not considered therapeutic targets, biomarkers, or direct disease agents[5][6]. Due to the nature of pseudogenes, RN7SL800P does not mediate biological functions, interact with drugs, or serve as a biomarker. Moreover, there is no evidence supporting its use as a pharmacological or diagnostic target.
