Overview

RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 809, pseudogene (RN7SL809P) is a **pseudogene** variant of the 7SL RNA family found dispersed within the human genome[6][7]. The canonical 7SL RNA is a highly conserved noncoding RNA component of the signal recognition particle (SRP) ribonucleoprotein complex, which is essential for targeting newly synthesized proteins to cellular membranes[1]. However, RN7SL809P does not encode a functional RNA, and instead, like other 7SL RNA pseudogenes, arises from the reverse integration of 7SL RNA into genomic DNA[5][7]. Most 7SL pseudogenes are truncated, nonfunctional fragments and do not produce protein or functional RNA. Although some pseudogenes in general may play regulatory roles in gene expression or miRNA signaling, there is no specific evidence associating **RN7SL809P** with therapeutic, diagnostic, or disease-modifying functions as a molecular target[3][4][7].

Mechanism of action

Not applicable (no drugs directly target this pseudogene)

03

Biological functions

Generally, no direct protein-coding functionMay act as regulatory RNA by interfering with microRNA (miRNA) networks, acting as a miRNA decoy or competitive endogenous RNA (ceRNA) (inferred from general functions of pseudogenes[4])May impact gene regulation of parental or related genes through sequence similarity or epigenetic mechanisms (inferred from the role of 7SL-related pseudogenes[4])Other
04

Disease associations

Other (no direct evidence for implication in specific diseases, but some pseudogenes influence oncogenesis or gene expression in cancer per general pseudogene insight[4])
