Overview

RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 813, pseudogene (RN7SL813P), is a nonfunctional genomic DNA sequence classified as a pseudogene. Pseudogenes of the 7SL RNA, like RN7SL813P, are truncated or mutated copies of parental 7SL RNA genes. These 7SL-derived pseudogenes are widespread in the human genome and, unlike the functional 7SL RNA gene, do not encode active RNA molecules involved in the signal recognition particle (SRP) complex. A subset of pseudogenes can be transcribed and, in rare cases, the transcripts may take on regulatory roles in cellular gene expression. However, RN7SL813P is not known to be functional, is not an established protein-coding gene, receptor, or therapeutic target, and is not associated with any disease mechanism or pharmacological modulation[1][3][5][8]. Key context: - 7SL RNA itself is functional and does have broad roles in protein targeting and cell regulation, but RN7SL813P is one of many pseudogenized copies and does not encode functional RNA or protein nor act in a defined biological pathway[1][3][7][9]. - There are hundreds of these 7SL-like pseudogenes in the human genome; the vast majority are byproducts of evolutionary genomic events and lack a function[5][3][8]. - There is no evidence supporting consideration of RN7SL813P as a druggable or disease-relevant target. Summary: RN7SL813P is a noncoding, nonfunctional pseudogene copy of the 7SL RNA gene, is not a therapeutic target, has no known biological function or disease association, and is not associated with any drugs or biomarkers.
