RN7SL823P (RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 823, pseudogene) is a *truncated, non-functional genomic copy* of the 7SL RNA gene. It belongs to a large family of dispersed 7SL-like sequences found in human DNA, the majority of which are pseudogenes and not expressed as functional RNAs[2][3]. Genuine 7SL RNA is the RNA scaffold of the signal recognition particle (SRP), a cytoplasmic ribonucleoprotein complex that mediates targeting of secretory and membrane proteins to the endoplasmic reticulum[4][5]. RN7SL823P, as a pseudogene, represents a byproduct of retrotransposition events, lacking the ability to produce functional RNA and therefore does not participate directly in cellular activity or drug targeting.
