RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 824, pseudogene (RN7SL824P) is one of hundreds of 7SL RNA-like sequences found dispersed across the human genome. It represents a non-functional, processed pseudogene generated from the reverse transcription and reintegration of 7SL RNA sequences into DNA. The majority of these dispersed loci are not expressed or functional and do not encode active signal recognition particle RNA or associated protein products. In contrast, the functional SRP RNA genes (e.g., RN7SL1, RN7SL2, RN7SL3) encode 7SL RNA, a core component of the signal recognition particle complex involved in cotranslational protein translocation to the endoplasmic reticulum. RN7SL824P does not participate in SRP function or biological processes and is not relevant as a molecular target for drugs or disease mechanisms in humans
