Overview

RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 842, pseudogene (RN7SL842P) is a non-functional, noncoding RNA pseudogene derived from the 7SL RNA, which is a key RNA component of the signal recognition particle (SRP) complex[4][2][6][7]. The authentic 7SL RNA is essential for targeting newly synthesized proteins to the endoplasmic reticulum, but RN7SL842P lacks the ability to encode a functional product and is not known to be transcribed or functional in cellular physiology[2][6][7]. Pseudogenes such as RN7SL842P are typically formed by genomic insertion of reverse-transcribed RNA and are generally considered evolutionary remnants with limited regulatory impact; they are not classified as therapeutic targets and have no established molecular or disease-related role[2][4][6][7].
