Overview

RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 865, pseudogene (RN7SL865P) is a pseudogene—a DNA sequence resembling a gene but generally considered nonfunctional, and specifically represents a non-coding RNA that is related to the 7SL RNA component of the signal recognition particle (SRP)[1][3][6]. Pseudogenes do not code for functional proteins and usually lack a biological role in canonical gene expression, although in rare cases some pseudogenes can have regulatory effects as decoys for microRNAs or through other noncoding mechanisms, but no such function has been reported for RN7SL865P specifically[2][4]. Among several hundred 7SL RNA-like sequences scattered in the human genome, the vast majority are pseudogenes such as RN7SL865P, which result from the integration of reverse-transcribed 7SL RNA into DNA but are not translated or transcribed into functional SRP RNA components[3][6]. While the 7SL RNA gene itself is a critical part of the SRP complex that guides secretory proteins within the cell[5][7], its pseudogenes are generally considered genomic relics and are not recognized as therapeutic drug targets, biomarkers, or disease-associated factors[1][3][4]. Notes on suitability as a target: - RN7SL865P does not encode for a protein or functional RNA product involved in cell physiology[1][4]. - It is not a recognized therapeutic, diagnostic, or research target, and is not involved in human disease processes or signaling pathways[1][3][4]. - Its inclusion as a "target" is incorrect in most biomedical, pharmacological, or therapeutic contexts. Summary: RN7SL865P is a nonfunctional pseudogene associated with 7SL RNA and is not a receptor, enzyme, or valid biological target. There is nothing to suggest it has any current or potential role in therapeutics, disease biology, or biomarker development[1][3][4].
