Overview

RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 89, pseudogene (RN7SL89P) is a truncated, non-protein coding copy of the 7SL RNA molecule, which itself serves as the RNA backbone of the signal recognition particle involved in co-translational protein targeting to membranes[3][5]. The majority of 7SL-like sequences in the human genome represent pseudogenes, likely originating from retrotransposition events where 7SL RNA sequences were reverse-transcribed and inserted back into genomic DNA[5]. These pseudogenes, including RN7SL89P, are divergent, truncated at either end, and not known to be transcribed into functional RNA. There is no evidence for direct biological function or disease association for RN7SL89P, nor for interaction with any drugs or biomarker utility[5][4]. The molecular classification is best described as "pseudogene". RN7SL89P is a human nonfunctional pseudogene copy of the active 7SL RNA, classified as a pseudogene, with no known canonical biological role, drug interactions, or importance in therapeutic targeting[5][4]. The main function of the parental 7SL RNA is its architectural role in the signal recognition particle, but RN7SL89P does not participate in these pathways.
