RNA, Ro-associated Y4 pseudogene 14 (RNY4P14)

Target
RNY4P14
Molecular classification
Pseudogene, Non-coding RNA, Y RNA pseudogene
01

Overview

RNY4P14 is a pseudogene of the Y RNA family, highly similar in sequence to the functional RNY4 gene, but lacking evidence of transcription to a functional RNA or protein product[3][4]. Y RNA family genes, including RNY4, are small non-coding RNAs involved in RNA stability, DNA replication, and disease processes such as cancer[1][2]. Pseudogenes like RNY4P14 may exert regulatory effects in rare cases by acting as RNA decoys or competing for binding with RNA-binding proteins[4], but there is no experimental evidence for this specific pseudogene. In contrast, the functional RNY4 gene is implicated in cancer biology and measurable in liquid biopsies as a biomarker for disease staging in anaplastic large cell lymphoma[1][2]. There is currently no validated evidence that RNY4P14 is expressed, has functional roles, or is considered a therapeutic or diagnostic target.
