RNU1-100P (RNA, U1 small nuclear 100, pseudogene) is a pseudogene form of U1 small nuclear RNA. Unlike functional U1 snRNA genes, which are essential components of the spliceosomal complex and play a pivotal role in the recognition of 5'-splice sites during pre-mRNA splicing, pseudogenes like RNU1-100P do not encode functional RNA or protein and are generally not transcribed or are transcribed at low, nonfunctional levels[3]. U1 snRNA pseudogenes, including RNU1-100P, lack important cis-acting elements necessary for proper RNA processing and assembly into the U1 snRNP complex. Consequently, RNU1-100P is not involved in canonical RNA splicing activities, nor is it a recognized therapeutic target or associated with disease mechanisms[3][2]. Its primary function is categorized as "Other" due to its non-functional, pseudogenic nature.
