RNU1-103P, or RNA, U1 small nuclear 103, pseudogene, is classified as a non-coding RNA pseudogene related to the U1 small nuclear RNA gene family[1][3]. U1 snRNA is an essential and highly conserved component of the spliceosome, the cellular machinery responsible for splicing pre-mRNAs in eukaryotic cells[3]. The genome contains numerous U1 snRNA pseudogenes, which are sequences similar to the authentic U1 snRNA loci but are traditionally annotated as nonfunctional due to mutations, deletions, or insertions that prevent their function as canonical snRNAs[3]. RNU1-103P itself has no known biological function, is not expressed as a functional RNA or protein, and is not considered a therapeutic target, receptor, enzyme, or marker in human disease or pharmacology[1][3]. Pseudogenes such as RNU1-103P are sometimes transcribed or even processed in certain contexts, but there is no evidence linking this particular pseudogene to any regulatory, disease, or drug-interactive function[1][3]. Thus, although it follows the naming convention for U1 snRNA pseudogenes, it does not fulfill the criteria of a bona fide drug or therapeutic target.
