Unlike the canonical U1 snRNA genes (such as RNU1-1 through RNU1-4), which produce snRNA essential for accurate pre-mRNA splicing, RNU1-114P is annotated as a pseudogene and is not known to encode a functional RNA transcript. Pseudogenes in the U1 small nuclear RNA cluster typically arise from segmental duplications or evolutionary processes leading to loss of function; there is no evidence that RNU1-114P produces a stable snRNA or participates in cellular function.
