U1 snRNA is a core component of the spliceosome required for pre-mRNA splicing, but the pseudogene versions, including RNU1-128P, generally do not code for functional RNA and are not known to play a direct biological role[2][4]. Recent studies suggest some U1 snRNA pseudogenes might transcribe variant snRNAs with regulatory functions, but such activity is not established or widely accepted for RNU1-128P specifically[2]. There is no evidence it is a therapeutic target, nor is it associated with any recognized disease or therapeutic intervention[1][2][3][4].
