RNA, U1 small nuclear 139, pseudogene (RNU1-139P) is a genomic pseudogene annotated as part of the U1 small nuclear RNA family. U1 snRNAs are essential for 5'-splice site recognition during pre-mRNA splicing and are core constituents of the major spliceosome complex, but RNU1-139P itself does not encode a functional RNA and has no evidence of biological function, disease association, or role as a therapeutic target. Pseudogenes such as RNU1-139P are generally considered non-functional genomic elements, with rare exceptions in other snRNA families where pseudogene-derived transcripts have been shown to participate in gene regulation or disease.
