Target intelligence / Profile preview

RNA, U1 small nuclear 151, pseudogene (RNU1-151P)

Target
RNU1-151P
Molecular classification
Other (small nuclear RNA pseudogene)
01

Overview

RNU1-151P belongs to a large family of U1 small nuclear RNA pseudogenes distributed throughout the human genome[7][8]. U1 snRNA is an indispensable component of the spliceosome responsible for pre-mRNA splicing, but pseudogenes like RNU1-151P contain incomplete or imperfect versions of this RNA. While some U1 snRNA pseudogenes may be transcriptionally active and produce variant RNAs with potential regulatory roles[3][7], there is no evidence that RNU1-151P itself has an established function or serves as a therapeutic target. Generally, such pseudogenes are not considered viable drug targets, nor are they used as disease biomarkers or associated with particular safety issues.
