Overview

RNA, U1 small nuclear 30, pseudogene (RNU1-30P) is a human gene classified as a pseudogene related to the U1 small nuclear RNA family[1][3][6]. U1 small nuclear RNA (snRNA) is an integral component of the spliceosome that recognizes and binds to the 5′ splice site of pre-mRNA, facilitating mRNA splicing[2]. However, RNU1-30P is a pseudogene version: it contains sequence similarity to functional U1 snRNA genes but harbors mutations or sequence features rendering it nonfunctional as an RNA product[4][6]. It does not encode a working RNA or protein, nor does it participate in biological processes like splicing. Instead, such pseudogenes are considered evolutionary remnants, generated by duplication or retrotransposition events, and do not have known biological or pathological roles[4][6]. No drugs, therapeutic strategies, or biomarkers are associated with RNU1-30P. It is not recognized as a therapeutic target or functional molecular entity.
