Unlike its canonical counterparts (such as RNU1-1), which encode U1 snRNA essential for pre-mRNA splicing in the spliceosome, RNU1-54P does not produce a functional product and is considered non-coding. Pseudogenes such as RNU1-54P typically arise from duplication or mutation of ancestral genes and have lost their functional capacity for transcription or translation. As such, RNU1-54P does not serve any known direct role in gene expression, splicing, cellular regulation, or disease and is not considered a therapeutic or biological target. RNU1-54P is a pseudogene of the U1 snRNA family, is not a functional gene or drug target, has no known biological or disease associations, and should not be listed among therapeutic targets.
