Pseudogenes such as RNU1-80P are typically the result of gene duplication or retrotransposition events and have lost the ability to produce functional molecules due to mutations or truncations[1][9]. While the canonical U1 small nuclear RNA genes play essential roles as part of the spliceosome in pre-mRNA splicing, the RNU1-80P pseudogene does not have a demonstrated biological function and is not considered a therapeutic target[1][9][5]. RNU1-80P is a non-functional pseudogene, not a therapeutic target, not involved in molecular interactions typical for targets, and has no known biological function or disease association. It is therefore both not a target and not suitable for target-oriented curation[9][1].
