RNA, U1 small nuclear 95, pseudogene (RNU1-95P)

Target
RNU1-95P
Molecular classification
Other (Non-coding RNA pseudogene)
01

Overview

RNU1-95P is a pseudogene that shares sequence similarity with genes encoding U1 small nuclear RNAs, essential non-coding RNAs involved in the major spliceosome complex responsible for intron removal from precursor mRNA during gene expression. Unlike canonical U1 snRNA genes, pseudogenes like RNU1-95P do not produce functional RNA molecules and have no known molecular function, disease association, or therapeutic relevance. They often arise via duplication or retrotransposition and accumulate mutations that render them inactive. In contrast, functional U1 snRNAs are central to pre-mRNA splicing, regulating transcriptome integrity and alternative splicing. There is no evidence that RNU1-95P participates in cellular activities or that it is relevant for disease or drug intervention.

Mechanism of action

None; not a drug target

03

Biological functions

None; as a pseudogene, RNU1-95P does not have known biological activity. For comparison, canonical U1 snRNA participates in spliceosome function and pre-mRNA processing.
04

Disease associations

None established; the functional U1 snRNA has roles in maintaining transcriptome integrity, and its variants can affect splicing in disease, but pseudogenes like RNU1-95P are not known to be involved in disease mechanisms.
05

Safety considerations

None; as a pseudogene, there are no therapeutic implications identified
06

Interacting drugs

None; there are no drugs reported to interact with RNU1-95P
07

Biomarkers

None; not used as a biomarker
