RNA, U11 small nuclear (U11 snRNA) is a highly conserved, non-coding small nuclear RNA that is an essential component of the minor spliceosome complex. It recognizes and binds to the 5' splice site of U12-type pre-mRNA introns, facilitating alternative splicing. U11 snRNA forms a bicomplex with U12 snRNA—together, they bridge intron ends in pre-spliceosomal complexes, enabling the removal of specific introns during pre-mRNA processing. This unique splicing pathway is critical for generating proteomic diversity and regulating gene expression. While not a traditional therapeutic target, U11 snRNA has been associated with rare genetic diseases and may have immunomodulatory functions due to its sequence characteristics
