RNU2-10P (RNA, U2 small nuclear 10, pseudogene) is a non-coding RNA gene classified as a pseudogene of the U2 small nuclear RNA gene family. It does not produce a functional RNA or protein product and is not involved in pre-mRNA splicing or any other cellular processes. Pseudogenes like RNU2-10P often arise from the duplication or retrotransposition of functional genes but typically lack regulatory elements or contain sequence disruptions that prevent them from being expressed or fulfilling original gene functions. Thus, RNU2-10P itself is not considered a functional gene, biological target, or therapeutic target in biomedical research[3]. Pseudogenes are generally not transcribed into functional RNA or protein and do not participate in classical gene function. The canonical U2 small nuclear RNA genes are essential for the major spliceosome and pre-mRNA splicing, but pseudogenes such as RNU2-10P are not known to participate in these pathways or serve as receptors, enzymes, or drug targets[3].
