RNA, U2 small nuclear 15, pseudogene (RNU2-15P) is annotated as a human pseudogene corresponding to U2 small nuclear RNA (snRNA)[4]. U2 snRNA is a core component of the spliceosome and is essential for pre-mRNA splicing[2][3], but RNU2-15P itself is a pseudogene, meaning it is a non-functional genomic sequence related to U2 snRNA but does not produce a functional RNA product or protein[4]. Pseudogenes such as RNU2-15P do not play a direct biological role in cellular processes and are generally not involved in disease or considered therapeutic targets[4]. There is no evidence that RNU2-15P interacts with drugs, serves as a biomarker, or presents safety concerns; nor is there documentation of involvement in human disease or regulated biological pathways. Mutation or expression changes in canonical U2 snRNA genes can be pathogenic[3], but this is not applicable to RNU2-15P.
