Target intelligence / Profile preview

RNA, U2 small nuclear 31, pseudogene (RNU2-31P)

Target
RNU2-31P
Molecular classification
Other (pseudogene, non-coding RNA derivative)
01

Overview

RNU2-31P is a human gene classified as a pseudogene and is homologous to the U2 small nuclear RNA gene. U2 snRNA genes are involved in pre-mRNA splicing, functioning within the spliceosome complex, but RNU2-31P itself does not produce any functional RNA or protein and is not implicated in known regulatory or disease processes[1][3]. RNU2-31P lacks known protein product, characterized biological activity, and evidence of relevance for therapeutic intervention. It is best described as a genomic relic of the U2 snRNA gene family with no established function or clinical utility.
