RNA, U2 small nuclear 59, pseudogene (RNU2-59P)

Target
RNU2-59P
Molecular classification
Pseudogene, Small nuclear RNA (snRNA) family (non-functional member)
01

Overview

RNU2-59P is a pseudogene member of the U2 small nuclear RNA gene family. U2 snRNA is an essential component of the major spliceosome, which is responsible for pre-mRNA splicing in eukaryotes. However, RNU2-59P does not encode a functional snRNA—it is a noncoding remnant with no known biological activity or disease association[1]. It is annotated as part of the snRNA gene family due to sequence similarity but does not produce a functional transcript or protein. This pseudogene is not associated with receptor, enzyme, transporter, or other canonical drug targets, nor is it used for therapeutic purposes. There is no evidence that it acts as a biomarker or interacts with drugs, and it does not present safety concerns in biomedical contexts[1].
