Overview

RNA, U4 small nuclear 10, pseudogene (RNU4-10P) is a noncoding RNA classified as a pseudogene within the U4 small nuclear RNA family. U4 snRNAs are components of the major spliceosome, essential for pre-mRNA splicing, but pseudogenes like RNU4-10P do not encode functional RNA, lack regulatory or protein-coding activity, and are generally not expressed as active molecules involved in cellular processes. It is a pseudogene of U4 snRNA with no known functional or disease association. Pseudogenes are DNA sequences similar to known genes but typically non-functional due to disabling mutations or lack of necessary regulatory elements. RNU4-10P is annotated in major databases as a pseudogene and not implicated in protein-coding or regulatory activity. The functional U4 snRNA (e.g., encoded by RNU4-2) participates in major spliceosome formation and mRNA splicing, and variants in RNU4-2 cause neurodevelopmental diseases such as ReNU syndrome. RNU4-10P does not share these functional or clinical attributes and is not associated with disease, therapeutic targeting, or clinical biomarkers. This entity is not suitable as a therapeutic target, receptor, transporter, or enzyme. References to RNU4-10P as a functional target would be inaccurate. All functional disease associations described for U4 snRNA relate to RNU4-2 and not RNU4-10P.
