Pseudogenes are non-functional copies or remnants of active genes; in this case, RNU4-24P does not code for a functional RNA and is not known to produce a functional protein or RNA product. Its parent gene family (U4 snRNA) is involved in pre-mRNA splicing as part of the spliceosome, but RNU4-24P itself has no validated biological activity or disease association.
