RNU4-26P (RNA, U4 small nuclear 26, pseudogene) is classified as a pseudogene of the U4 small nuclear RNA gene family[1]. Pseudogenes are genetic sequences similar to known genes but are typically non-functional because they do not encode functional products and are generally not expressed at meaningful levels. Unlike functional snRNAs like RNU4-2, which participate in pre-mRNA splicing as a part of the spliceosome, there is no evidence that RNU4-26P encodes a functional RNA or protein or that it plays any known biological or disease role. Pseudogenes are not considered therapeutic targets, and there is no evidence that RNU4-26P interacts with drugs or has a known mechanism of action, biomarker role, or safety consideration[1]. RNU4-26P may be referenced in genomic studies for evolutionary or structural context, but it is not classified as a functional gene or molecular target.
