Overview

RNU4-35P (RNA, U4 small nuclear 35, pseudogene) is classified as a pseudogene of the U4 small nuclear RNA gene family. U4 snRNAs are components of the major spliceosome complex, which is essential for the splicing of precursor mRNA in eukaryotic cells. However, as a pseudogene, RNU4-35P does not produce a functional RNA product and is not known to contribute directly to biological processes, disease mechanisms, or serve as a drug target. This distinguishes it from functional U4 snRNA genes like RNU4-2, which have been implicated in neurodevelopmental disorders when mutated. There is no evidence that RNU4-35P is involved in any known signaling pathway, disease process, drug mechanism, or biomarker application. Key points: - RNU4-35P is a pseudogene (non-functional remnant of a gene) and is not a direct therapeutic or biological target. - It should not be confused with functional snRNA genes (such as RNU4-2) that can be implicated in disease when mutated. If you are looking for information relevant to spliceosome-related diseases, refer instead to functional U4 snRNA genes (like RNU4-2).
