RNA, U4 small nuclear 47, pseudogene (RNU4-47P) is a pseudogene; it represents a genomic DNA sequence similar to a functional gene encoding U4 small nuclear RNA (snRNA), yet it is *non-functional* and does *not* generate an active RNA product involved in biological processes. Pseudogenes like RNU4-47P are essentially genomic "fossils" derived from once-functional genes, but lack coding potential or regulatory function due to mutations, deletions, or truncations. RNU4-47P is not implicated in disease, is not considered a therapeutic target, does not code for proteins or functional RNAs, and has no known molecular or biological roles, drug interactions, or clinical applications[3][4]. The functional U4 snRNA genes (such as RNU4-2) are important for the spliceosome, but this pseudogene is not, and should not be confused with them.
