RNA, U4 small nuclear 7, pseudogene (RNU4-7P) is a human gene that belongs to the family of small nuclear RNA pseudogenes. It shares sequence similarity with functional U4 snRNA genes, which code for an essential RNA molecule involved in the spliceosome and pre-mRNA splicing. However, as a pseudogene, RNU4-7P does not produce a functional RNA product and is generally considered a non-functional genomic element. Pseudogenes like RNU4-7P do not have known roles in biological processes or diseases, nor do they interact with drugs or serve as biomarkers. Functional spliceosome snRNAs (e.g., U4 snRNA encoded by RNU4-2) have important roles in development and disease, but this does not apply to RNU4-7P.
