Overview

RNA, U4 small nuclear 70, pseudogene (RNU4-70P) is a genomic sequence annotated as a pseudogene, which means it has sequence similarity to the functional U4 small nuclear RNA gene but is generally non-functional and not expressed as an active molecule. Pseudogenes typically arise through gene duplication or retrotransposition but accumulate mutations that render them noncoding and inactive. While functional U4 snRNAs are integral components of the spliceosome complex involved in pre-mRNA splicing and neurodevelopment, RNU4-70P itself is not known to contribute to splicing activity, is not disease-causing, and is not a target for drugs or therapeutic intervention[6][1].
