RNU4ATAC6P (RNA, U4atac small nuclear 6, pseudogene) is a nonfunctional pseudogene derived from the U4atac small nuclear RNA locus. Pseudogenes such as RNU4ATAC6P arise through the retrotransposition and genomic integration of snRNA sequences but do not encode functional RNA or protein products. Unlike the functional RNU4ATAC gene, which is essential for the activity of the minor spliceosome and correct splicing of U12-dependent introns, this pseudogene lacks biological activity and is not implicated in disease or therapeutic targeting[1][3][5]. It serves primarily as a genomic marker of retrotransposition activity rather than as a physiologically or pharmacologically relevant molecule.
