RNU5B-4P is annotated as a pseudogene of the U5B small nuclear RNA family in the human genome. It encodes a sequence related to the functional U5B small nuclear RNA (snRNA), a critical noncoding RNA element of the major spliceosome complex involved in pre-mRNA splicing. However, as a pseudogene, RNU5B-4P is generally considered nonfunctional and is not believed to produce an active snRNA or participate in spliceosomal assembly. There is no evidence that RNU5B-4P serves as a therapeutic target, nor is there literature supporting its involvement in disease, drug interaction, or clinical biomarker status. Most functional or disease associations in the recent literature focus on RNU5B-1 or other related, non-pseudogene copies[1][5]. Pseudogenes such as RNU5B-4P are typically annotated in the genome as relics of gene duplication or retrotransposition events and lack coding or regulatory activity[1][5].
