RNU6-1010P (RNA, U6 small nuclear 1010, pseudogene) is a processed pseudogene of the U6 small nuclear RNA (snRNA) gene family, found in the human genome and annotated by NCBI Gene (106481929)[2]. It does not encode a functional RNA or protein product. U6 snRNA is a key non-coding RNA component of the major spliceosome, essential for pre-mRNA splicing in eukaryotes[1][3][5]. The U6 family is highly conserved and critical for cellular RNA processing[3][1]. Pseudogenes like RNU6-1010P result primarily from L1 retrotransposition events, which duplicate RNA genes throughout the genome but do not retain their original biological functions[6]. RNU6-1010P is not therapeutically targeted, does not function as an enzyme, receptor, or regulator, and does not participate in biological roles associated with U6 snRNA. There is no evidence linking this pseudogene to diseases, drug interactions, or use as a biomarker.
