Overview

RNA, U6 small nuclear 1011, pseudogene (RNU6-1011P) is a processed pseudogene derived from the U6 small nuclear RNA (snRNA) family[1][3][5]. Pseudogenes are genomic DNA sequences similar to functional genes but are nonfunctional due to mutations or truncations and do not encode functional products[2][6]. RNU6-1011P represents a retrotransposed duplicate of the original U6 snRNA gene, which is a component of the spliceosome involved in pre-mRNA splicing. Like most snRNA pseudogenes, RNU6-1011P does not encode a functional snRNA, is not expressed as a functional product, and does not serve as a drug target, biomarker, or known disease effector[1][2][5]. The presence of such pseudogenes in the genome is a consequence of retrotransposition and genome evolution, not of direct biological or therapeutic significance[2]. This gene is a pseudogene, not a protein-coding gene, receptor, or biologically active RNA, and so is not a therapeutic target or a molecule with direct physiological function[1][3][5]. There is no evidence it plays a role in disease, interacts with drugs, or has a mechanism of action—the listing of RNU6-1011P as a target is likely incorrect in a pharmaceutical or marker context[2][5]. Its primary importance is as a marker of retrotransposition activity and evolutionary genomic studies, not as a biological effector[2].
