RNU6-102P (RNA, U6 small nuclear 102, pseudogene) is a non-coding RNA gene classified as a pseudogene. It is similar in sequence to the functional U6 small nuclear RNA gene but is not believed to encode a functional RNA or protein product[1]. U6 snRNA itself plays an essential role in nuclear intron splicing as part of the spliceosome machinery[3][7], but pseudogenes such as RNU6-102P are generally regarded as non-functional remnants produced by genomic duplication or retrotransposition events[5]. While most pseudogenes do not produce functional products, some may be transcribed and may participate in regulatory RNA networks in specific cellular contexts[4][6]. There is no evidence that RNU6-102P itself is a therapeutic target, a receptor, or used as a biomarker, nor are there drugs directed at this molecule.
