RNA, U6 small nuclear 1026, pseudogene (RNU6-1026P) is a pseudogene of the U6 small nuclear RNA (snRNA) family. U6 snRNA itself is a highly conserved non-coding RNA component of the spliceosome, which is responsible for the splicing of pre-messenger RNA in eukaryotic cells[2][3]. However, RNU6-1026P is classified as a pseudogene, meaning it is a non-functional genomic sequence derived from the functional RNU6 family members and does not encode an active RNA or produce a functional product[1][4]. Pseudogenes like RNU6-1026P do not participate in cellular biochemical pathways, do not serve as therapeutic targets or biomarkers, and have no established links with disease roles, interacting drugs, or safety concerns[1][4]. While the functional U6 snRNA plays a critical catalytic role in the spliceosome, facilitating the removal of introns from pre-mRNA, the pseudogene RNU6-1026P is transcriptionally inactive or otherwise non-functional and has no established biological or clinical significance[2][3][4].
