Target
RNU6-103P
Molecular classification
Other (pseudogene), Non-coding RNA pseudogene
01

Overview

RNU6-103P is a processed pseudogene related to the U6 small nuclear RNA gene family, which are short, conserved non-coding RNAs involved in the spliceosomal removal of mRNA introns. RNU6-103P itself does not produce a functional RNA or protein product. Pseudogenes such as RNU6-103P arise through retrotransposition events, most commonly mediated by LINE-1 (L1) elements, and represent genomic relics rather than active genetic elements[2]. They are generally considered non-functional, though some pseudogenes can rarely act as competing endogenous RNAs or regulatory elements, but there is no data suggesting such a function for RNU6-103P[4][6]. RNU6-103P is not considered a therapeutic or biological target, nor is it implicated directly in disease or targeted by drugs[1][3][4].
