Unlike functional snRNA genes, this pseudogene carries sequence similarity but does not express a functional RNA product. The parent U6 snRNA is a key component of the spliceosome complex involved in pre-mRNA splicing, but pseudogenes such as RNU6-1052P typically lack regulatory or catalytic activity[4]. While some pseudogenes influence gene regulation via non-coding RNAs in other gene families (through mechanisms like miRNA sponging or epigenetic modulation)[1][3], there is no evidence that RNU6-1052P plays a regulatory role in health or disease. These loci are commonly detected in genomic surveys and gene catalogs, but their functional significance is limited to evolutionary genomics, and they are not active biological targets[2][5].
