Overview

RNU6-1060P (RNA, U6 small nuclear 1060, pseudogene) is an annotated pseudogene in the human genome, similar in sequence to U6 small nuclear RNA, a molecule involved in RNA splicing. Pseudogenes are noncoding gene sequences that have lost protein-coding function due to mutations. While most pseudogenes are considered genomically inactive, some can participate in the regulation of other genes by acting as regulatory RNAs (such as miRNA sponges, antisense RNAs, or sources of small interfering RNAs) and thus contribute indirectly to biological processes. However, there is no evidence that RNU6-1060P plays a direct or therapeutically actionable role, nor are there descriptions of its involvement in disease or as a marker for drug response[1][2][4]. Pseudogenes, in general, may exert effects through epigenetic mechanisms, modulation of gene expression, or serving as competitive endogenous RNAs, but RNU6-1060P has not been specifically implicated in these processes[2][4].

Biological functions

Possible involvement in RNA regulation (miRNA or siRNA decoy, antisense RNA), based on generic pseudogene literatureMay have indirect regulatory roles but not direct “classical” protein-based functions
03

Disease associations

Generic pseudogenes can affect gene regulation, sometimes contributing to cancer or other diseases through regulatory effectsNo evidence for disease linkage specific to RNU6-1060P
