Overview

The RNU6-1074P gene encodes a U6 small nuclear RNA (snRNA) pseudogene, a nonfunctional genetic element derived from the U6 snRNA gene. U6 snRNA is essential for mRNA splicing within the spliceosome in eukaryotic cells, coordinating catalytic events needed for intron removal from pre-mRNA[1][3]. However, as a pseudogene, RNU6-1074P lacks the ability to produce a functional snRNA product and does not participate in splicing or any known cellular process[5][2]. Multiple U6 snRNA pseudogenes are present in the genome as evolutionary relics, but these sequences have no known biological role or disease relevance[3][5][2]. This is a pseudogene, not a coding gene nor any recognized therapeutic target. It is often listed in genomics databases but solely as a nonfunctional remnant; thus, it should not be used as a therapeutic or diagnostic molecular target[2][5][3].
