RNU6-1108P is a processed pseudogene corresponding to U6 small nuclear RNA, one of the major small nuclear RNAs (snRNAs) critical for pre-mRNA splicing in the spliceosome[1][4][6]. Unlike functional U6 snRNA genes, RNU6-1108P does not produce a mature RNA molecule and is not incorporated into ribonucleoprotein complexes. U6 snRNA, from which this pseudogene derives, is essential for the splicing of pre-mRNA in eukaryotes, but pseudogenes like RNU6-1108P arise through retrotransposition events and do not participate in cellular processes[6][5]. Such pseudogenes are abundant in vertebrate genomes and can serve as evolutionary markers, but have no known coding, regulatory, or disease association functions[6]. RNU6-1108P represents a non-functional sequence, not a receptor, enzyme, or therapeutic target, and is mainly of genomic, evolutionary, or annotation interest; using it as a target is not meaningful for drug development or therapeutic purposes[1][4][6].
