Overview

RNA, U6 small nuclear 1112, pseudogene (RNU6-1112P) is a processed pseudogene related to the highly conserved U6 small nuclear RNA (snRNA) family[2][4]. The functional U6 snRNA is a core component of the spliceosome, the complex responsible for catalyzing pre-mRNA splicing in the nuclei of eukaryotic cells, but RNU6-1112P itself does not encode a functional product or participate in splicing[1][3][4]. Pseudogenes like RNU6-1112P are typically produced through retrotransposition (L1-mediated reverse transcription) and can be detected as truncated, non-functional copies dispersed throughout the genome[4]. There is no evidence that RNU6-1112P acts as a therapeutic target, biomarker, or has any known pathology or pharmacology associated. Its presence mainly reflects genome architecture and retrotransposition activity[4][2].
