RNA, U6 small nuclear 1114, pseudogene (RNU6-1114P) is a processed pseudogene related to the U6 small nuclear RNA (snRNA) gene family. U6 snRNA is a critical component of the spliceosome, mediating pre-mRNA splicing in eukaryotic cells. However, RNU6-1114P does not encode a functional RNA or protein; instead, it is a genomic relic originating from the retrotransposition or duplication of a U6 gene. The presence of U6 snRNA pseudogenes like RNU6-1114P reflects historic retrotranspositional events and can be used as genomic markers of such activity. No biological function, disease role, drug interaction, or therapeutic relevance has been established for RNU6-1114P. Its only significance is as part of the broader family of snRNA pseudogenes in vertebrate genomes.
