RNA, U6 small nuclear 1119, pseudogene (RNU6-1119P)

Target
RNU6-1119P
Molecular classification
Pseudogene, Non-coding RNA (snRNA-derived)
01

Overview

RNU6-1119P is a pseudogene sequence derived from the U6 small nuclear RNA (snRNA) gene family. Pseudogenes like RNU6-1119P are nonfunctional copies or fragments of genes that share sequence homology to their functional counterparts but lack the ability to encode products due to disabling mutations or truncations[2][3][4][5]. U6 snRNA is an essential noncoding RNA component of the spliceosome involved in removing introns from pre-mRNA in eukaryotes[1]. Pseudogenes of U6 snRNA arise via retrotransposition or gene duplication events and are abundant in mammalian genomes, serving largely as evolutionary genomic relics without current biological or disease-related roles[3][5]. There is no evidence that RNU6-1119P is expressed or functional, and it is not a druggable or therapeutic target.
