RNU6-1120P is a pseudogene corresponding to the U6 small nuclear RNA gene family, which plays a central role in the spliceosome assembly and pre-mRNA splicing, but as a pseudogene, RNU6-1120P does not produce the canonical small nuclear RNA and is generally considered nonfunctional. Pseudogenes are evolutionary relics of functional genes and, in the case of U6 pseudogenes, typically do not encode proteins, nor do they participate in enzymatic or receptor-driven mechanisms. Most references to pseudogenes like RNU6-1120P highlight their nonfunctional status, although some pseudogenes in general can act as competitive endogenous RNAs or ceRNAs. However, specific evidence and functions for RNU6-1120P are lacking—so it should not be considered a drug target, biomarker, or relevant receptor/enzyme for therapeutic modulation.
