Overview

RNU6-1125P is a noncoding RNA pseudogene derived from the U6 small nuclear RNA gene family[7][5]. U6 snRNAs are core components of the spliceosome, responsible for catalyzing intron removal during pre-mRNA splicing in eukaryotes[1][3]. The existence of numerous U6 pseudogenes in the human genome reflects the evolutionary importance and high conservation of U6 snRNA. Unlike the canonical U6 snRNA, pseudogenes like RNU6-1125P typically do not produce functional RNA molecules, nor do they encode proteins. However, research in pseudogene biology has shown that some pseudogenes can be transcribed, and in rare cases, their RNA transcripts may regulate gene expression by acting as decoys or sources of regulatory small RNAs[4]. There is currently no evidence that RNU6-1125P itself is functional, nor is it considered a therapeutic target, nor are there any drugs or biomarkers linked specifically to this pseudogene.
