RNA, U6 small nuclear 1136, pseudogene (RNU6-1136P) is classified as a pseudogene derived from the U6 small nuclear RNA (snRNA) gene family, specifically annotated as pseudogene number 1136 in humans[4][5]. U6 snRNA itself is an evolutionarily conserved, non-coding RNA essential for pre-mRNA splicing as part of the spliceosome complex[1][3]. However, pseudogenes like RNU6-1136P are non-functional genomic copies or partial copies of the parent U6 snRNA gene. They generally do not encode functional RNA products due to sequence alterations or lack of necessary regulatory elements[5]. Although some pseudogenes can perform regulatory roles (e.g., as competing endogenous RNAs), there is no report demonstrating RNU6-1136P has such a function[2][6]. This pseudogene is not considered a therapeutic target, nor is it involved in drug interactions, named as a biomarker, or associated with direct safety concerns. It serves mostly as an annotated genomic sequence with sequence similarity to U6 snRNA family genes[4][5].
