RNU6-1140P (RNA, U6 small nuclear 1140, pseudogene) is a human pseudogene affiliated with the U6 small nuclear RNA family. Pseudogenes are segments of DNA that resemble functional genes but typically lack protein-coding ability or canonical biological activity. The ancestral U6 snRNA provides a crucial component for spliceosomal activity (splicing pre-mRNA) in eukaryotes, but this pseudogene does not participate in that function. Some pseudogenes may sporadically produce non-coding RNA transcripts with possible, but largely unestablished, regulatory activity. There is no evidence of RNU6-1140P functioning as a molecular target, nor is it involved in drug response or disease biology as an independent entity.
